My Testimony

My testimony ~

I turned from God for many years after my father ended his own life.  I strayed and rebelled - cursed at God and even called Him names.

Fast forward to age 34 when I met Tom.  I was thin, fit, yet still horribly shy and quiet.  We married, then had our son the following January.  When I saw my wonderful son, I instantly realized how much God truly does love me in spite of myself.  And in our son's nursery, I got on my knees and rededicated my life to Christ.

I've always prayed for our son - morning, then evening.

One night about 7 years ago, he had been going after work to help a buddy make home improvements on his newly purchased house.  So Brandon was going on about 2-3 hrs of sleep a night.  Then one Friday night another friend asked for a ride to see his gf in Chicago.  They begged him to sleep on the couch, but Brandon felt able to drive home in spite of fatigue.  He was on a 4-lane hwy going about 70 and fell asleep.  His heavy boot was on the gas peddle, and he ended up clipping the back bumper of a truck, then swerving into a deep ditch - missing a cement wall (overpass bridge) by approx four feet.  Four feet - four feet between life and instant death.

The morning that the senior care center called and told my brother and I that our mother was in a coma, and would likely pass away that day or evening, I took a few minutes to quickly type a prayer on my FB page.  A good friend and strong Christian told me this:  "Before entering that room, pray for God to help you remain as quiet and still as possible, then sit down and allow the feeling of God to completely fill the room.".  And that is exactly what happened.  I felt God's presence so strongly that it was overwhelming and beyond comforting.  Then mom would start sitting up suddenly and scream "NOOOOO". I would sit by her and quietly tell her to please look for her mother, and take her hand, and let her lead her home.  This happened over and over until mom finally stayed in a complete coma.  She died after I decided to go home.  She (her spirit) waited until I left to allow herself to leave this world.

It wasn't until the next day that I learned that this mother of mine - a woman who was nearly deaf - didn't have her hearing aid in while I was comforting her.  Her spirit allowed her to hear me.
